Jane Comer returns to Fertile Ground after performing her critically acclaimed work I Am An Actress at Fertile Ground 2017 and 2019. A fear often greater than death is the fear of public speaking. Jane, with many years of speaking experience, has been teaching a class to help people overcome their fear of speaking. And now it’s the big event. The students have practiced their speeches, and are ready to perform them at a public recital. Suzanne has written a eulogy for someone she knew a long time, but never really liked. Beth talks about her very best friend, and that horrible, dreadful thing that happened. Karla has something she calls “Olivia. Newton. John”. We’re not sure what that’s about. Other students will also be speaking, however they were too scared to be mentioned in this announcement. And Jane herself will present the final speech, The Fear of Speaking. And what if none of the students show up and Jane has to give their speeches for them? That could never happen, could it? Is it possible our fear of speaking keeps us from being happy? Come have the laughs, come feel the tears, come experience The Fear of Speaking.
