Polaris Dance Theatre presents Groovin’ Greenhouse, a series of world premiere dance works. Polaris, along with guest dance companies from every corner of Portland, are working with established and emerging Portland choreographers to present brand new dance works in the Polaris Studio Theatre. This evening features Polaris Dance Theatre with a world premiere by Artistic Director and resident Choreographer Robert Guitron. Guitron and his company play with innovative illumination and shadow, themes of love, loss and loneliness and grapple with identifying the mix of gifts from others that make us who we are. From full cast to intimate duet, this diverse company pulls at heartstrings and demands its audience members to think in a different way. Also joining Polaris this evening is r:ad, led by Artistic Director Alexander Dones. r:ad brings a work in process titled soothsayer that began in the Winter of 2013. The work is inspired by Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy and explores the universal longing to understand where we came from, where we currently find ourselves, where we are going, and what it all means (if anything at all).”
