Tragedy begets humor. Disaster breeds drama. Pain produces paintings. Gretchen Peterson, creator of last year’s Persephone Xoa Iris, unveils her not-so-secret history of transforming facts into fairy tales, and pain into paintings. Through original fables, personal stories and photos, Gretchen explores how she’s used her imagination and creativity to turn life’s challenges into art. Join Gretchen on her journey as she covers the years 1979-2000, from meeting Academy Award®-winning actress Greer Garson to a life-altering episode of chronic pain. Along the way you’ll discover your very own niche in an exquisite 600-room palace: Lemonwood Court (when life handed Gretchen lemons, she didn’t make lemonade, she made Lemonwood Court!). You’ll see how two brooding Hamlets, John Barrymore and Edwin Booth, morph into a brooding Crown Princess who happens to look a lot like Gretchen! You’ll find yourself traversing a labyrinth of pain leading to the center of a shattered life. In Gretchen’s performance, you’ll discover the touchstones of a creative life where yesterday’s upheaval is today’s uplift.
