Anne Winter is passing for white in 1880s Portland when her black half-brother Caleb arrives to blackmail her. He will reveal the truth about her at a time when Oregon’s Negro Exclusion law is in effect, unless she gets him into a poker game. Meanwhile a young entrepreneur, Conrad Ryan, asks her to find out if a wealthy European investor is backing the East Portland Railroad or the West Portland Railroad. Play won Portland Civic Theatre Guild’s 2014 playwriting contest. (Show is appropriate for ages 8+)
