In “Creating Life Inside,” youth at Donald E. Long Detention Center tell you where they come from. They will tell you exactly what they want you to know, because if you really knew them, you would understand. They ask, “Will you hear me, now?”

Rogue Pack Theatre conducted workshops this past year at the Donald E. Long Center. These youth were asked to write about issues effecting them (incarceration, gangs), their favorite song lyrics (Everyone who knows us knows…) and what thoughts consume them daily (mail delivery!)

Rogue Pack performance facilitator Tara Hershberger and actors Jim Vadala, Giovanni Alva and Dustin Fuentes will stage, “Creating Life Inside,” written by justice -involved youth ages 15-17. They describe the “heartless background,” they come from, their present situation and their hopes for the future. Join us for talkbacks each night to discuss current issues around youth incarceration with people who work closely with the justice system.
